LYDIA. Sardis. Germanicus, with Drusus, Caesar, 15 BC-AD 19. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29 mm, 13.45 g, 1 h), originally struck in circa 23-26, restruck by Asinios Pollio, proconsul, circa 28-29. ΔΡΟΥΣΟΣ ΚΑΙ ΓΕΡΜΑΝΙΚΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡΕΣ ΝΕΟΙ ΘΕΟΙ ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟΙ Germanicus and Drusus seated left on curule chairs, one of whom holds lituus. Rev. ΓΑΙΩ ΑΣΙΝΝΙΩ ΠΟΛΛΙΩΝΙ ΑΝΘΥΠΑΤΩ around KOINOY / AΣIAΣ within wreath. BMC 106-9. RPC I 2995. An unusually clear example of this interesting issue showing both the over- and the undertype. Very fine.

This coin was restruck under Asinios Pollio using two ring-shaped punches carrying an identical obverse but a new reverse legend. On this example, considerable parts of the original legends are still legible
